DISRUPT 5.0. Filipina Women Leading with Intersectionality.

FWN Most Influential Filipina Women Awardees ONLY

Some problems we share as women, some we do not. You fear your children will grow up to join the patriarchy and testify against you; we fear our children will be dragged from a car and shot down in the street, and you will turn your backs on the reasons they are dying.
— AUDRE LORDE in “Age, Race, Class, and Sex: Women Redefining Difference” (1984)

ATTENTION AWARDEES

When you joined the ranks of extraordinary Filipina leaders recognized by the FWN100™ award, this honor wasn't just a celebration; it was a torch passed, a commitment to "femtoring" the next generation, and paving the way for a future where Filipina women lead in every sector of the global economy.

FWN now invites you to take another powerful step on your AWARDEE journey: become a published author in DISRUPT 5.0, the newest book of the FWN DISRUPT Leadership Series.

We're calling on you to raise your voice, share your story, and lead the conversation on intersectionality.

What is DISRUPT?

DISRUPT is the Filipina Women's Network's (FWN) flagship book series, showcasing the diverse experiences and powerful voices of Filipina women leaders. Every chapter is a testament to our resilience, our strength, and our unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world.

DISRUPT 5.0: Filipina Women Leading with Intersectionality

This edition takes our leadership to the next level, focusing on the critical and often overlooked concept of intersectionality. We believe that Filipina women's stories are uniquely positioned to shed light on the interconnectedness of various forms of oppression and discrimination.

Why Intersectionality Matters

Intersectionality recognizes that Filipina women's experiences are shaped by a multitude of factors, including race, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ability. Each of these identities intersects and interacts, creating a unique tapestry of challenges and triumphs. By understanding and amplifying these diverse narratives, we can:

  • Challenge dominant narratives. Filipina women's stories have the power to deconstruct harmful stereotypes and misconceptions about our community.

  • Build bridges of solidarity. Our lived experiences can create empathy and understanding across different communities of color, fostering stronger alliances and collective action.

  • Spark global conversations. The world needs to hear Filipina women's voices on issues of intersectionality. Our stories can inform global discussions on gender equality, racial justice, and social justice.

  • Inspire the next generation. By sharing our triumphs and struggles, we can empower young Filipinas to lead with courage, purpose, and a deep understanding of the world around them.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
— Maya Angelou, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" (1969)

Why You Should Write Your Story

  • Your story matters. It is a testament to your strength, your resilience, and your unique perspective on the world. By sharing your lived experiences, you can:

  • Validate your own experiences. Writing your story can be a powerful act of self-discovery and healing. It allows you to claim your narrative and challenge external forces that may have tried to silence or marginalize you.

  • Contribute to a richer understanding of Filipina womanhood. Your story adds another thread to the vibrant tapestry of Filipina experiences, enriching our collective understanding of who we are and what we can achieve.

  • Become a role model for others. Your story can inspire future generations of Filipina women to embrace their identities, overcome challenges, and lead with purpose.

  • Make a difference in the world. By sharing your voice, you can contribute to positive change on a local, national, and global level.
